Cafe Club Aquarium
vernissage: Friday, 28 April, 6 pm
Exhibition of photographs by Paweł Mszyca presented as a part of this year's Dance Week. The open-air photo shoot featured young ballet students from Bielsko-Biała and the surrounding area.
"I wanted to photograph ballet in a natural environment. Usually, we see the beautiful bodies of the dancers in confined spaces. I was curious how ballet dancers, clad in their ascetic outfits, will find themselves exposed to the camera lens in the open air."
The photographs shown in the exhibition will be featured in the 2018 calendar issued on the occasion of this year's Dance Week. The calendar will be shown for the first time on the opening day of the exhibition.
The vernissage will be followed by a violin concerto performed by Piotr Sadowski. This will serve as an introduction to the lecture by Wiesław Wójcik - a philosopher, historian of science and mathematician - on the importance of the human body in relation to religion and philosophy, and in everyday life. Other related lectures will be held in May.
Paweł Mszyca - a local 37-year-old traveller, graphic designer and photographer; winner of several photo competitions, including The Beskids Immortalized in Photograph organized by the Municipality of Bielsko-Biała, as well as three editions of the Mountain Photography Festival organized by the Academic Department of PTTK (Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society) at the University of Bielsko-Biała.
Piotr Sadowski - a local graduate of the Academy of Music in Katowice, violin class under Professor Klemens Bortel (1992). Founder and head of the Telemann Big Band Orchestra. Participant of master courses conducted by European professors; composer of a number of musical projects, including Cafe Zimmermann at the Polish Theatre in Bielsko-Biala (1995) and Musical Ballad of Europe at the Bielsko-Biała Cultural Centre (2005).
