GIVE LOVE TO OUR ARTISTS. THE SEQUEL. 75 YEARS OF ZPAP – accompanying events
A jubilee night for local artists. Friday, 11 September sees the inauguration of the 75th anniversary of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers (or ZPAP in Polish) with memories, openings of exhibitions and a jazz concert.
The exhibition “Give Love to Our Artists. The Sequel”which marks 75 years of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers in Bielsko-Biała, will be held under the auspices of Jarosław Klimaszewski, the Mayor of Bielsko-Biała, and Janusz Janowski, the Chairman of the Board of the Association.
The exhibition consists of three parts: Galeria Bielska BWA will present the works of current members of the Association, the Historical Museum in Bielsko-Biała will exhibit works by 16 artists associated in ZPAP who have died in the last five years; and Galeria PPP Gallery at Rynek 27 Rynek, which is run by the local branch of the Association, will feature the installation “Po Prostu Patrz”(Just Look).
The exhibition in Galeria Bielska BWA, which has been available for viewing since 4 September, offers the most comprehensive presentation of the works of local artists. It shows works by more than 100 artists currently associated in ZPAP, Bielsko-Biała. The exhibition is curated by Agata Smalcerz.
“Viewers will find some of the featured paintings readily recognizable by their well-established styles, and others representing new and surprising points of view and forms of expression. The exhibition features works by both established and budding artists, all representing a wide spectrum of techniques. It offers visitors an opportunity to see the latest developments on the local art scene, as well giving the artists a chance to meet each other, compare achievements, exchange thoughts and ideas”, says Agata Smalcerz.
The jubilee events, including the official inauguration of the 75th anniversary of ZPAP in Bielsko-Biała, will be held in the open air on Friday, 11 September on the square outside Galeria Bielska BWA from the side of ul. Mickiewicza.
There will be reminiscences from the history of the local branch of the Association, with all the landmark events and names of key ZPAP members. These will be followed by a number of speeches by artists, patrons and guests, each introduced by a curator, a concert of improvised music by a young jazz sextet from Bielsko-Biała, and then a long fun-packed night for all the artists and their friends, art lovers and guests, with meetings, openings of exhibitions, and walks ample opportunity to walk around the charming Old Town of Bielsko-Biała.
