Born in 1966 in Pisz; studied at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin; degree in painting under Professor Marian Stelmasik, with the academic supervision of Associate Professor Mikołaj Smoczyński (1992).
One of the most renowned performance artists in Poland; participated in more than 200 prestigious art festivals and competitions in Poland, Europe, North America and Asia; his artistic pursuits include sculpture, painting, video art and curatorship. Organiser of Bielsko-Biała’s branch of the International Art Festival „Interactions”, held in Piotrków Trybunalski; curator of the performance section of the International Global Communication Festival in Centrum Kultury „Elektrownia” in Radom (2009) and the Festival of Visual Arts, Bielsko-Biała, Galeria Bielska BWA (2007). Lecturer in „Aesthetics of Shape” (since 2009) at the department of Modern Computer Graphics of the University of Mining and Metallurgy (AGH) in Kraków. His other interests include the theory and promotion of art, mainly performance.
Painting has always been a part of my art, but my main media of expression is Performance Art. My method for painting is informed by my experience in performance art. By using many small canvases, the final outcome can be composed freely. New canvases can be added to extend the painting and can be placed anywhere I feel they should be. I can reorganize the canvases to create a new outcome depending on the size and structure of the exhibition space. In this way the paintings are modular and can become a living visual narrative, connecting performance with substantive, traditional painting.
