Bielsko-Biała as a candidate for ECoC 2029

The European Capital of Culture is a title given annually to selected cities in Europe. Bielsko-Biała is a candidate city for this award.

The idea of the ECoC aims to promote cultural diversity in Europe and to increase the awareness and importance of culture in society. Giving the city this title is an opportunity to develop and promote art and culture on the international stage. The selected city organizes a variety of cultural events throughout the year, such as festivals, exhibitions, concerts, theater performances and much more. Thanks to the ECoC, the city also gains the opportunity to develop its cultural, tourist and social infrastructure, which contributes to its positive image and economic development.

The ECoC initiative was established in 1985 and is one of the most important cultural projects of the European Union. Capitals of Culture have already been chosen in many countries across Europe, which contributed to the promotion of culture and art across the continent.

In 2029 the title of European Capital of Culture will be awarded to one Swedish and one Polish city. The town selection process takes about two years.
