BEA STOSZEK – DON’T LET THE BLACK ROADS MISLEAD YOU

An exhibition of paintings and linocuts by a local artist with themes converging on portraiture and nature.

The title of the exhibition, “Don’t let the black roads mislead you”, is a reference to an event in the artist’s private life, and on the other hand, it has also provided food for thought in the context of the roads we follow.

Bea Stoszek:
I like to revolve around themes related to what is objectively not associated with the beauty of the surrounding reality. I am attracted to nature - rat, mouse, snail, worm, fungus, and in human terms – senile, organically worn, experienced. For many - the mundane of life, for me - pure poetry (in the catalogue of the 5th Festival of Visual Arts in Bielsko-Biała 2022).

The title of the exhibition borrows from an essay by Bo entitled Don’t let the black roads mislead you, or Obverse and Reverse. The true story of the rant, which is the artist's personal reflection on the essence of the creative act, and the mystery of the artist’s ‘soul’.
